October 2023- The UK Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency have partnered to create an in-space telemetry relay service called InRange that will help Japan's newest launch rocket, the H3. By utilizing InRange for the H3 launch vehicle, launch paths can be enhanced by eliminating the need for direct line-of-sight contact with ground stations during important parts of the launch. The InRange service will revolutionize launch capabilities globally, assisting in making launch more sustainable by lowering both fuel requirements and strain on ground systems, so that spacecraft can lift off on their voyages more efficiently.
August 2023- The United States Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California intends to procure telemetry transmitters for Edwards' retired B-1B bomber, now used as the RB-1B Data Lab, in preparation for upcoming hypersonic weapon testing. The data lab is utilized for Air Force system integration trials. Quasonix, an Ohio-based company that manufactures specialized telemetry components, will supply the telemetry transmitters, analysers, receivers, and accessories required to support the High-Speed Systems Test program through the Universal Beamforming Telemetry project. The InRange service will enhance the flexibility of the H3's flight paths, allowing the H3 to fulfil the varied needs of launch customers. This will eliminate the requirement for expensive sea-based tracking systems in the South Pacific. It is imperative that these units interoperate with the current Global Hawk system elements. Furthermore, the units must be compatible with the existing units presently employed by the system developer, CDSI Inc.
