The world leader in optical solutions, ams OSRAM, has launched EVIYOS 2.0, a new kind of intelligent multipixel LED that allows for fully adaptive, dynamic headlight operation and image projection. This innovation in automotive forward lighting is revolutionary.
In high-beam mode, EVIYOS 2.0 can selectively illuminate the road ahead to maximise the driver's view while avoiding the glare that other road users usually encounter. With a pixel pitch of 40 µm, the chip's 25,600 independently controllable LEDs can also project high-resolution images onto the road surface, allowing the driver to be guided past obstacles or to see warning symbols for other road users.
By giving drivers more time to react to hazards that would be invisible or only partially hidden by conventional headlights, EVIYOS 2.0 significantly increases road safety. Additionally, the improved road view is expected to change how a driver perceives the road at night, making driving safer and easier.

Nichia Corporation and Infineon Technologies AG are joining the market with the introduction of the first fully integrated micro-LED light engine for HD adaptive driving beam applications. A luxury German car will employ micro-LED matrix technology in 2023. It combines high-definition resolution with the industry's highest light output. This solution opens up new possibilities for automotive lighting because it has a four-fold wider field of view and more light output than any other HD matrix-light solution currently on the market that is based on micro-mirror technology. As a result, the advanced HD light can warn motorists of possible hazards by highlighting people or objects that are located on or close to the roadside.
