CropEnergies, a German biofuels manufacturer, plans to invest over €100 million in its UK-based company Ensus UK to finance various projects, such as the development of high-protein feed for the aquafeed and pet food industries. According to CropEnergies, the investment in Ensus UK's bioethanol production plant at Wilton on Teesside in northeast England will bolster the company's position in the European ethanol and protein markets while also improving the site's overall profitability and lowering CO2 emissions.
Building a new unit to produce high-protein animal feed will be the main undertaking for this investment. The new product, a high-protein item marketed under the brand name EnPro, is intended for the pet food and aquafeed markets in the UK and Europe.Â
The business will be expanding its product line and addressing the protein scarcity in the UK by converting feed grain into high-protein feed with more uses. The primary goals of additional investments are to lower emissions and increase plant reliability. There will be an upgrade or replacement of some of the installed feed driers.
