    • November 2022: CAIRE Inc., a subsidiary of NGK SPARK PLUG CO., LTD., will acquire MGC Diagnostics Holdings, Inc. (MGC), headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. For the identification, categorization, and control of cardiorespiratory disorders, MGC intends to design, develop, produce, and market non-invasive diagnostic systems, consumables, and accessories. The closing of the acquisition is anticipated to occur by the end of the year. The acquisition represents a substantial stride in furthering CAIRE's objective of establishing connections with patients at every stage of pulmonary disease, encompassing diagnosis, monitoring, awareness, and treatment. As a result of its 2020 acquisition of Spirosure (now CAIRE Diagnostics), a manufacturer and developer of a proprietary technology for diagnosing asthma, the organization will have direct access to hospitals and clinics worldwide via a distribution channel.

    • September 2023: Samsung Electronics and the University of Michigan Exercise & Sport Science Initiative (ESSI) established a research collaboration with the aim of investigating the potential of smartwatch technology in aiding athletes in the management of their physical activity and health through the provision of more dependable and precise data. The Michigan Performance Research Laboratory (MiPR), the principal research laboratory of ESSI, will supervise an eight-month study in which participants' perspiration loss and VO2 max are estimated using the Galaxy Watch series while running. The research will conduct a comparison between reference data and smartwatch data obtained from running experiments conducted both indoors (treemill) and outdoors for distances ranging from 2.5 km to 20 km. During the summer, runners of all skill levels struggle with perspiration loss, dehydration, and heat management.
