The SlimTech insulation from Whirlpool Corporation is the first vacuum-insulated structure (VIS) refrigerator that has been available in North America. Large, insulating polyurethane foam was the mainstay of refrigeration technology for a long time, but this technology represents a major advancement.

SABIC is launching two fire-retardant, fiber-reinforced, intumescent, resins that are ideal for thermoforming and sheet extrusion: Stamax 30YH611 and SABIC PP compound H1090. The company claims that it enables customers to form large, complex structural parts by providing an alternative to traditional sheet metal forming, compression, and injection molding.
