Eastern European mega wood industries giant VMG Group has expanded the value of its already sizable wood holdings by formally opening an LVL (laminated veneer lumber) and I-joist factory in Lithuania. It becomes the first LVL facility in Lithuania.
The plant of VMG Lignum Construction has the ability to yearly produce 120,000m3 of LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) and 15 million metres of I-joists. A particleboard production line already produces 200,000m3 of structural particleboards on-site.

Metsä Group has chosen to build a new Kerto LVL mill in änekoski with the aim of producing beam and panel products used in the building industry. Kerto LVL solutions significantly lessen the carbon footprint of buildings when compared to several other materials. The mill will begin producing in late 2026, and it will cost about EUR 300 million.
The building material Kerto LVL, also known as laminated veneer lumber, combines the great added value of wood with material effectiveness. Kerto LVL is ideal for a variety of architectural applications, including elements and modular construction, thanks to its exceptional technological capabilities.
The new Kerto LVL mill will be located at the änekoski integrated mill site, which makes use of synergies in mill services, energy production, as well as logistics. In order to extract the most value from the valuable raw material, the integrated mills can use 100% of the side streams generated during the production of Kerto LVL. Around 400,000 cubic meters of Finnish logs will be used in the new mill. Â
