An agreement has been reached between Atlantic Lithium Limited and The University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, in the Western Region of Ghana, to carry out a definitive feasibility study aimed at determining the feasibility of producing feldspar feedstock as a by-product of spodumene concentrate production at the company's Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Ghana. Atlantic Lithium Limited is an African-focused lithium exploration and development company that aims to deliver Ghana's first lithium mine.
As byproducts of the proposed Ewoyaa Lithium Plant, feldspar, quartz (silica), and muscovite will be produced. The partnership will evaluate the economic, technical, and commercial viability of these productions. The study's primary focus will be feldspar, which presents Atlantic Lithium with a domestic market opportunity to bolster Ghana's pottery industry.
The goal of UMaT's Feldspar Study is to ascertain the market for both fresh and weathered (Kaolin) feldspar in Ghana and the surrounding countries, as well as the technical viability of processing feldspar there. Additionally, a thorough financial model that illustrates potential costs and revenues will be developed, along with risk analysis and risk mitigation strategies.
A high-level implementation schedule for the work and a recommendation regarding the feasibility of producing feldspar from the Company's Ewoyaa Lithium Plant are anticipated from the findings of the Feldspar Study.
