Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc., a South Korean producer of chemical materials and technology products, would enter the battery separator film industry by purchasing Toray Battery Separator Film Korea (Toray BSF Korea).
The corporation disclosed the agreement on Thursday to purchase a 70% stake in Toray BSF Korea, which is currently governed by Toray Industries of Japan. One of the four necessary battery components, separators is produced with expertise by Toray BSF Korea, the company's major production base. It is located in the North Gyeongsang Province city of Gumi.
The business offers a wide range of products for electric vehicles, electrical devices, industrial components, and energy storage, and it provides separators to domestic and foreign battery producers.
 Toray Korea hopes to strengthen its skills through the most recent acquisition and change the management structure of Toray BSF Korea to one that is focused on Korea. The objective is to increase customer collaboration and strengthen the value chain for K-batteries. Â

A technology pioneer that creates, develops, and produces lithium-ion battery solutions, Microvast Holdings Inc., has announced the establishment of its first polyaramid battery separator plant in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, with a $504 million investment. Up to 562 new full-time jobs will be generated by the project, which aims to be the first mass manufacturing plant of cutting-edge polyaramid separator technology in the entire globe.
The campus, which will work with General Motors, is anticipated to be partially supported by a $200 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as part of the recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law aimed to create a North American-focused EV supply chain.
