An exclusivity agreement was inked by Salamander, a joint venture of Ørsted, Simply Blue Group, and Subsea7, as a part of Crown Estate Scotland's Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round.

Situated 35km off the coast of Peterhead, the 100 MW Salamander floating offshore wind project is intended to give Scotland and its supply chain an early chance to produce floating offshore wind before the larger-scale ScotWind buildout.

The INTOG round was divided into two pots: one for major projects related to oil and gas infrastructure and one for smaller-scale innovative initiatives of 100 MW or less. Salamander found success by using innovation.

In order to position a suite of cutting-edge technologies for implementation in utility-scale projects like the ScotWind leases, Salamander will showcase them in a commercial setting. These technologies are essential to guaranteeing the delivery of affordable floating offshore wind energy that benefits local businesses and industry.
