Structural Sealant Market
August 2023- CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. has launched Rapid Set Non-Sag Sealant and Adhesive and Self-Leveling Sealant in the color black. These products provide contractors and homeowners with professional-grade sealing and bonding solutions. The non-shrink, single-component products are based on solvent-free hybrid silane polyether technology. The sealants can be used on different types of surfaces, including asphalt, brick, cement board, concrete, fiberglass, foam, glass, masonry, metal, rock, rubber, stone, vinyl siding, wood, and more.
Compared to silicone and polyurethane sealants, the Rapid Set products offer:
Resistance to UV rays for long service life in various climates
Flexibility at low temperatures for application in subfreezing conditions
Capabilities of maintaining an air- and watertight bond through freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or flaking
Bonding to damp substrates and in damp weather, the sealants do not bubble or foam in the presence of moisture, which deteriorates sealant and adhesive integrity.
Black Rapid Set Non-Sag Sealant and Adhesive and Black Rapid Set Self-Leveling Sealant can be used on various material-type roofing to waterproof gaps, holes, and penetrations, as well as to join dissimilar-material components such as galvanized steel flashings and clay (terracotta), concrete and slate tiles. For example, owners seeking a watertight seal between the building and the gutter could apply the products to the back of metal or vinyl gutters before screwing the gutter into brick or wood. In addition to asphalt shingles, the products bond to several types of composite material used in residential, commercial, and industrial roofing: expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation, ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) and styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS)-modified bitumen membranes, fiber-reinforced polymer or plastic (FRP) sheets and polyvinylidene-fluoride (PVDF) finishes. The products are flexible enough to expand and contract with these construction materials without compromising the building envelope.
Major market participants include
3M, BASF, Pidilite Industries, Asian Paints, Roberlo, Chemence, AKEMI, H.B Fuller, Henkel, DowDuPont, and more.
