Two reSound REC Recycled Content Thermoplastic Elastomers have been added to Avient Corporation's product lineup. Post-consumer recycled (PCR) material is used in the formulation of the new grades intended for use in automotive interior applications. With similar performance to conventional TPEs, the materials provide a more environmentally friendly TPE option.
This reSound REC 7310 product series was created in response to the increasing demand for more sustainable transportation. Its goal is to comply with common automotive OEM standards regarding fogging and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Eighty and ninety Shore A durometers make up the first two grades in the series, with 35 or 45 percent PCR derived from recycled food packaging. They can be used for a variety of interior applications by being customised, injection moulded, or overmoulded to polypropylene (PP). This includes parts for instrument panels and dashboards, front and rear trunk liners, centre console trays, and door mats/mat pockets. In order to offer consistent and comparable aesthetics to prime grades for OEM-specific blacks, they are coloured black. It is also possible to have additional colours.
