Aerospace composites companies are driving innovation through the development of advanced materials that offer remarkable strength-to-weight ratios. These firms are exploring novel composite structures, like carbon fiber-reinforced polymers and advanced resin systems, to create components that are not only lighter but also more durable and resistant to corrosion and fatigue. Innovations in manufacturing techniques, such as additive manufacturing and automated lay-up processes, are optimizing production efficiency while ensuring precision in complex designs. These advancements play a pivotal role in enhancing aircraft performance, fuel efficiency, and overall safety within the aerospace industry.

Park aircraft Corp. (Newton, Kan., USA) will debut its new Aeroadhere FAE-350-1 structural film adhesive solution in 2023 for use in bonding aircraft primary and secondary structures. Aeroadhere FAE-350-1 film adhesive is a 350°F curing epoxy formulation film adhesive designed for bonding applications such as composite-to-composite, composite-to-honeycomb, composite-to-metal, metal-to-metal, and metal-to-honeycomb.

To fulfil the growing demand for lightweight advanced composite materials for the aerospace sector, Hexcel has announced the completion of a major expansion at its engineered core operations factory in Morocco in 2023.

Toray Industries said in 2023 that it provided prepreg and carbon fibre made of Torayca to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency for use in the H3 launch vehicle. Carbon fibre was incorporated into the H3 motor casing, much as it was in the H-IIA, and Torayca prepreg—which was created with high-strength carbon fibre and high-toughness resin—was recently employed for the payload fairing portion.
