The rising development in the automotive industry is driving market growth.
The rising demand and development in the automotive industry are driving the market CAGR for brushless DC motors. One of the factors propelling the market development for brushless DC motors is the rise in the production and use of electric cars. Even though they are used in various industries, such as agriculture, medicine, and health care, DC motors are growing the market. The fundamental justification for this preference is that employing DC motors has many benefits, including energy efficiency, high torque, and high rpm. Additionally, DC motors are used in vehicle motors to control motorized wipers, seats, window adjustable mirrors, and massaging seats, among other extra features. This additional usage of DC motors contributes to expanding the market for brushless DC motors.
Additionally, brushless DC motors provide numerous advantages anticipated to support the market's expansion over the projected timeframe, such as improved uniformity, a longer service life, reduced sound, conserving electricity, and a boost in equipment productivity. They are thermally resistant, easy to maintain, function at low temperatures, reduce any risk of ignitions, provide substantial torque and rpm, and provide numerous advantages. Additionally, it is expected that the worldwide brushless DC motor market would grow substantially owing to the rise in urban population, rising consumer awareness of environmentally friendly goods, and government efforts to promote the usage of green vehicles.
COVID-19 has disrupted the worldwide aerospace and defense industry, causing OEMs in commercial aircraft to experience decreased demand, a labor shortage, and travel delays. Domestic air passenger numbers on American Airlines decreased by 68% from September 2019, putting the tourism industry in danger. As per International Air Transport Association, the GFC caused airlines to lose money over 3 times. This increased the market's unfavorable effects on brushless DC motors. The only method to accelerate market expansion is through the leading companies' increased investment during the projected timeframe. Brushless DC Motors Industry Developments
November 2023
The range of intelligent power devices (IPD) that Toshiba Electronics Europe offers for brushless direct current (BLDC) motor driving applications has been expanded. These novel devices are suitable for usage in a variety of applications, including fans, ventilation, air conditioning, and pumps, among others such as these.
The products (TPD4163K and TPD4164K) feature an HDIP30 through hole package that measures only 32.8mm x 13.5mm x 3.525mm. These product dimensions are designed to complement the TPD4163F and TPD4164F, which were just recently introduced. In comparison to other DIP26 products manufactured by Toshiba, such as the TPD4123x, TPD4144x, and TPD4135x, this new package has a PCB mounting area that is reduced by more than twenty percent thanks to its revolutionary design. The amount of space that is necessary for motor drive circuit boards is greatly reduced as a result of this consideration.
These IPDs, like the ones that came before them, are constructed using IGBTs that have a rating of 600V and come with a gate driver that is matched to it. This allows them to provide a comprehensive and integrated solution in a small package. A maximum DC current (IOUT(max)) rating of 1A is assigned to the TPD4163K, but the TPD4164K, which is more competent, is assigned a rating of 2A. Both of the devices have an IGBT saturation voltage (VCEsat) of 2.6V and 3.0V, respectively, while the diode forward voltage (VF) is 2.0V and 2.5V.
This results in an increase in the design margin since the maximum supply voltage rating (VBB(max)) of both devices has been increased to 600V. The use of this upgrade is especially beneficial in settings where the power supplied by the mains is varied or prone to fluctuations.
Toshiba has unveiled a reference design that highlights the capabilities of the new TPD4164K and TMPM374FWUG microcontrollers with vector control engines. This design is intended to make the process of creating brushless DC motor drives easier.
November 2021: Allied Motion purchased ORMEC Systems Corporation in 2021. This company developed and produced mission-crucial electro-mechanical automation systems and control devices.
