    On Aug. 16, 2023, Mi Terro announced its plan to tap waste streams from potato peelings to brewers' spent grains to create cost-effective replacements for polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a petrochemical-derived film used in laundry and dishwasher pods. Mi Terro upcycles agricultural waste to create the PVA replacement. 


    On Feb.24, 2023, Tesco announced replacing the plastic tubs for its laundry detergent pods with recyclable cardboard packaging. This move will likely remove 252 tons of plastic from its portfolio annually and over four million pieces of plastic across eight lines. The new box is FSC-certified and contains over 90% recycled cardboard. The retailer is also introducing bigger packs of pods for families looking for better value.
