New injection systems, including methanol and ammonia injection systems, are being developed by Woodward, a leading manufacturer of engine injection systems, for engines burning future fuels. With injection systems ranging from 100 kW to over 1000 kW per cylinder, large engines using P2X fuels will be able to utilize all possible combustion concepts, supporting the world's energy transition to low-carbon fuels.
A High-Pressure Dual-Fuel (HPDF) platform for methanol and ammonia injection with full diesel backup capability is being developed by Woodward for applications that demand the highest levels of power density as well as efficiency.

Cummins demonstrated at CONEXPO their new fuel-agnostic 15-liter engine platform, which is capable of running on low-to-zero carbon fuel and includes hydrogen, natural gas, and sophisticated diesel engines. The purpose of the upcoming engine generation is to quicken the process of decarbonizing heavy-duty off-highway applications.
The 15-liter advanced diesel has a broad power range of 450–675 hp (335–503 kW) with a peak torque of 3000 N·m and is equipped with Cummins’ newest XPI ultra-high pressure fuel injection system. Carbon can be reduced by up to 70% when using B100 biodiesel and up to 90% when using HVO renewable fuel.
The 15-liter natural gas engine will be available with ratings ranging from 400 to 510 horsepower (298 to 380 kW) and a maximum torque of 2500 Nm for applications using renewable biogas. Another advantage of this engine is its extremely low noise level, which is especially useful in urban settings.
