August 2023: Aion Biosystems has announced that their iTempShield device and software solution has gained FDA 510(k) approval. iTempShield has been approved for usage in adults and children aged five and up. It includes applications in hospitals, outpatient clinics, remote patient monitoring settings, and over-the-counter sales. Aion, located in Boston, created the quarter-sized, skin-wearable monitoring gadget with the use of cloud-based software and proprietary algorithms. It offers continuous body temperature measurement for a number of therapeutic applications. This involves monitoring for oncology sepsis, detecting post-surgical infections, long-term surveillance, and consumer home health. iTempShield clings to the surface of the skin on the chest and can operate for up to 60 days without being recharged.

October 2021: Masimo, a medtech startup, announced the debut of the Radius T Continuous Thermometer, a linked sensor system that can take a patient's temperature over time instead of the manual method, for customers. The technology may deliver temperature data as well as warning messages if a spike occurs to a linked app. The alerts and notifications functionalities can be customized by users. The app can display both real-time temperature measurements and trend data. A tiny sensor is put to the consumers' skin as part of the system. The instrument then employs an algorithm to provide an estimated oral temperature. The sensor, according to the manufacturer, may be worn for up to eight days and is water resistant. The system is not yet FDA 5109(k) approved, however it can be sold due to the FDA's Enforcement Policy for electric thermometers as a result of COVID-19. Previously, the technology was only available for health-care systems and patient remote monitoring.
