Södra, a Swedish forest industry company, has sold its stake in Silva Green Fuel. Statkraft will purchase Södra's 49% stake in the business and advance the development of advanced biofuels technology. In order to advance Silva Green Fuel development, Statkraft is also searching for a new partner.
Silva Green Fuel is a key renewable energy development project for Statkraft and one of the six focal areas of the company's new energy solutions strategy. The technology being developed at the Asker municipality's Tofte demonstration facility holds great promise, according to Statkraft. Comparing the technology to other biofuel technologies, it is thought to be competitive. It is anticipated that the biofuels market will grow rapidly due to shifting national and EU regulations.

KBR announced that it has partnered with Swedish Biofuels AB, a technology developer and pioneer in cutting-edge biofuels research, to launch Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) technology.
With a unique SAF offering, the partnership expands KBR's decarbonization and energy transition portfolio into the aviation industry. This technology can process carbon dioxide and synthesis gas to synthetic asphalt fibre (SAF) in addition to ethanol, giving KBR's clients more opportunities to use captured carbon for a cleaner, greener future. At Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, validation of this cutting-edge technology was carried out in collaboration with the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
The technology's creator, Swedish Biofuels, has an unmatched track record of SAF research and innovation, and it is anticipated that this technology will soon overtake all others as the primary SAF solution.
