Using the expertise of its partner Weichai, Ceres Power Holdings PLC has introduced a stationary solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system. After passing a 30,000-hour test at Weichai's fuel cell industrial park, the SOFC system was also given EU CE certification. The system has a cogeneration efficiency of more than 85% and a power generation efficiency of more than 60%, according to the Chinese transport and Power Organization. It can start and stop up to four times faster than existing technologies.

According to the business, it can be scaled to produce megawatts of power when installed in modular units, making SOFC "another major strategic pillar of Weichai's diversified development of energy."

In comparison to electricity from the grid, Weichai estimates that their products have the ability to reduce carbon emissions by about two million tonnes annually once they have deployed 1 GW of distributed power.

Customers can now purchase the Bloom platform with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) capability, increasing system efficiency and lowering costs.

CHP is a system that uses a variety of technologies and fuels, most frequently combustion engines, to produce both electrical and thermal energy.
