    • Sep 2023: As more surgeons use technology in operating rooms, UK robotic surgery group CMR Surgical has secured $165 million from current investors, including Japan's SoftBank, to support its global expansion. The UK's largest private medical technology business, CMR Surgical, last obtained capital in 2021 with a $600 million investment at a $3 billion valuation. Since then, the valuation has not gone up. The need for less intrusive procedures and technical progressions have led to a steady increase in robotic surgery. Compared to human surgeons, robots can frequently do surgery with fewer incisions. Versius applies to seven surgical specialties and over 130 procedures, ranging from hysterectomies to hernia repairs. Additionally, it gathers operational data that could assist the company in enhancing the system's functionality and giving surgeons more information. The company, based in Cambridge, has its manufacturing plant just outside the academic city. According to Bose, tax reform in the UK was necessary to support creative businesses.




    • May 2023: The British sailing team INEOS Britannia and the multinational engineering technologies business Renishaw have extended their relationship as they prepare for the 37th Americas Cup. Renishaw will support INEOS Britannia as an official technical supplier, offering position measurement and additive manufacturing (AM) experience as the team looks toward becoming the first British squad to win the America's Cup. Renishaw will continue to support INEOS Britannia by providing products and knowledge in manufacturing process control, position measurement, and Raman spectroscopy. Additionally, Renishaw will support additive manufacturing to maximize the design and production of custom, lightweight structural elements for the boat. The INEOS Britannia team will also have the assistance of Renishaw's Spanish affiliate, which operates an Additive Manufacturing Solutions Center at its headquarters in Spain throughout its stay in Spain.
