May 2023: Hester Biosciences Ltd, a major leader in the animal healthcare industry, said it had acquired regulatory clearance for a Bio-Safety Level-III (BSL-3) facility intended for human vaccine development and manufacture. In response to declining demand for Covid vaccines, the business stated that it is "considering the repurposing of the facility to manufacture human or veterinary vaccines," meaning that the BSL-3 facility is operational. The Department of Biotechnology in India (BIRAC) would be consulted and give their stamp of approval before the final decision was made.

April 2022: The pharmaceutical giant Cadila Pharmaceuticals made headlines when it revealed the development of a revolutionary three-dose rabies vaccine. Using Virus-like Particle technology, the three-dose vaccination known as 'ThRabis' was developed, and the business announced its availability in a press release.
