Automotive Front End Module Market Trends
The demand for lightweight materials from automakers is driving the market growth
Due to the implementation of strict emission requirements, the demand for lightweight materials from the automotive industry has increased dramatically over the past ten years. Lightweight car components can help vehicles become lighter overall, which can lower CO2 emissions and costs. 20%–30% of vehicle weight reductions have mostly been made possible by experimenting with front-end module materials in auto parts. In addition to providing practical functions like air cooling, heating, lighting, exterior design, and aesthetics, a front-end module (FEM) is a key structural component of cars, providing support and safety in the case of an accident. Front-end modules have often featured substantial steel bearers. But in recent years, there has been an increased emphasis on lightening the weight of vehicles, which has led to an increase in the use of lightweight composites as structural carriers for FEMs rather than steel and iron.
Due to rising vehicle production, the Automotive Front End Module market is anticipated to expand. Technological developments allowed automakers to use a hybrid structure made of plastic and metal to provide structural safety while reducing weight. Numerous parts make up the Front End Module, including the headlamp, front grill, radiator, condenser, horn assembly, oil cooler, and others. The most important part of a car is its headlight, which is mounted on the front side of every car and illuminates the road. In cars, the front grill serves as a safety feature that helps shield the radiator and engine. It is designed to let air flow in and out to prevent heat transfer from the engine. With the aid of a fan, radiators serve as heat exchangers by transferring heat from the coolant.
The Automotive Front End Module market is expanding as a result of the expanding automotive industry and OEMs' growing emphasis on vehicle modularization and weight reduction. The usage of personal vehicles is rising significantly, supporting the expansion of the automotive sector, as disposable income rises in developing nations, particularly China, India, and Indonesia. Likewise, the market for commercial vehicles has expanded significantly in recent years as a result of the expanding logistics sector and rising demand for public transport. Therefore, the development of the automotive front-end module business has been directly driven by the growth of the automobile industry.
The adoption of modularization in product architecture is predominantly seen in the worldwide automotive sector and is typically related with the product design. OEMs can produce front-end modules with the much-needed flexibility thanks to modularization, which in turn helps the automotive front-end modules market expand. Additionally, OEMs are attempting to reduce vehicle weight by using lightweight front-end components in order to increase fuel efficiency of their cars. OEMs have been able to reduce vehicle weight thanks to the development of composites and metal-composite hybrids. In light of this, it is anticipated that these factors will continue to fuel the automotive front-end module market's expansion during the ensuing years. Thus, driving the Automotive Front End Module market revenue.

Automotive Front End Module Industry Developments
May 2023: One of the top semiconductor foundries in the world, United Microelectronics Corporation, announced today that its 40nm RFSOI technology platform is now prepared for the manufacturing of millimeter-wave (mmWave) radio frequency (RF) front-end products. This will facilitate the widespread adoption of 5G wireless networks and applications, such as smartphones, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) systems, and small cell base stations. While most current 5G networks operate in the sub-8GHz range, mmWave technology uses a new frequency spectrum between 24GHz and 60GHz, enabling the delivery of incredibly low latency, blazing-fast transfer speeds, and more dependable connectivity. In order to produce RF switches, low noise amplifiers, and power amplifiers that can handle the greater bandwidth of mmWave frequencies, UMC has developed a new platform called 40RFSOI. 40RFSOI is the perfect choice for clients creating integrated RF chips that incorporate beamformers, core and passive devices, as well as front-end components on a single IC, balancing the demand for additional RF components in mmWave modules while keeping the size low.
June 2023 : Broadcom has introduced an integrated front-end module (FiFEM), for WiFi 7 access point (AP) applications on routers, home gateways, and business Aps.In order to improve 5GHz and 6GHz band coexistence and low in-band insertion loss while drastically lowering the bill of materials (BOM) at the RF front end, FiFEM devices employ FBAR filter technology. Furthermore, the devices contain non-linear power amplifiers (PA) that are designed for Broadcom's WiFi SoC Digital Predistortion (DPD) operation, allowing for a 40% reduction in RF front-end consumption. The second-generation Wi-Fi FBAR filter is integrated to improve band isolation and efficiency, decrease RF BOM and board space, and prevent yield loss due to external filter mismatch. This is the first non-linear FEM that has been approved for use with Broadcom's Wireless FEM Active Management (WiFAM) Gen2 technology.
July 2022: Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA (Hella), which conducts business under the FORVIA umbrella brand, has decided to sell its 33.33% ownership part in HBPO Beteiligungsgesellschaft GmbH ("HBPO") to its co-shareholder, Plastic Omnium. The agreed-upon acquisition price is 290 million euros. The deal must receive the usual regulatory approvals. The deal should close in the fourth quarter of 2022. Plastic Omnium will own all of HBPO at 100% and will be in a good position to create new lighting-based modules and systems. One in five front-end modules produced globally is assembled by HBPO.
