High Purity Alumina Market

Alcoa confirms that several grades of non-metallurgical alumina are now part of its EcoSourceTM low-carbon alumina brand.
EcoSource is the world's first and only brand of low-carbon alumina, having been introduced in 2020 for smelter-grade applications (SGA). It is currently available in hydrates and calcined materials, among other non-metallurgical (NMA) grades. The main applications for hydrates are in municipal water treatment; calcined materials are used to make glass, ceramic tiles, and flame retardants.
EcoSource is said to come from Alcoa's worldwide refining system in both SGA and NMA. This system is supposed to have an average carbon dioxide equivalent intensity (CO2e) of less than 0.6 tonnes per tonne of alumina produced, which includes emissions from Scope 1 and Scope 2 sources related to the mining and refining of bauxite.
