    June 2023- Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL), an integrated metal-producing firm, has announced the successful commissioning of expanded production capacities at their manufacturing site in Jamuria, West Bengal. The company has increased the capacity of its captive power plant by 90 MW, from 267 MW to 357 MW. This enhancement allows SMEL to fulfill approximately 80% of its power requirements internally, resulting in significant cost savings. Additionally, the company has successfully commissioned an incremental capacity of 165,000 TPA for Sponge Iron production, bringing the total capacity to around 2.7 MTPA. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, expressed his satisfaction and stated that the company is making great strides in achieving its ambitious growth plans. With this latest addition, the company has successfully met the capacity expansions outlined during its IPO preparations.
