    October 2023

The UAE's largest oil company, ADNOC, has awarded Petrofac yet another huge contract to supply equipment for a significant carbon capture project in the Middle East. The London-based energy services company has been awarded a $600 million (£497 million) contract by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to supply carbon capture units, pipeline infrastructure, and multiple sequestration wells.

The Habshan Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) project, located approximately 93 miles southwest of Abu Dhabi, is scheduled to receive the technology. This latest agreement with ADNOC is made just two months before Dubai plays host to the COP28 climate summit and coincides with the ADIPEC conference, a major global energy industry exhibition.

One of the biggest oil producers in the world, ADNOC, plans to attain net zero emissions from its operations by 2045—five years ahead of schedule—in part by investing in CCUS programs.
