Latest Company Updates:
November 2023- WiTricity Corporation and Nagano Japan Radio made an announcement today that Nagano Japan Radio has signed a licensing agreement with WiTricity to develop and market wireless charging products for industrial applications. Nagano Japan Radio plans to combine WiTricity's wireless power transfer technology with its own wireless communication, power supply and coil winding technologies to commercialize wireless charging systems for industrial use. In manufacturing environments that are becoming more automated, integrating these technologies will decrease maintenance and charging tasks related to cables, making factories more intelligent and efficient.
June 2023- A team from Caltech has shown the ability to wirelessly transmit power in space and beam it down to Earth. Their payload, called SSPD-1, is the first prototype in space for Caltech's Space Solar Power Project. SSPD-1 flew as a hosted payload on Momentus' Vigoride 5 orbital transfer vehicle on SpaceX's Transporter-6 mission, which launched on January 6th. The power transmission was done by MAPLE, which stands for Microwave Array for Power-transfer Low-orbit Experiment. MAPLE is one of three technologies being demonstrated on SSPD-1.
January 2023- The AirFuel Alliance has introduced a worldwide compatible standard for radio frequency (RF) wireless power transfer (WPT) and intends to start a certification program. AirFuel RF enables wireless power over distances of several meters using radio frequencies and allows fast charging of multiple gadgets at the same time. This was demonstrated this week at CES 2023 by Energous and Atmosic. The Alliance already has a standard for resonant wireless charging. Having AirFuel RF as an industry standard opens up RF wireless power to further assist the increasing power requirements of the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem of devices like sensors, smart tags, asset trackers and other IoT applications.
