Lithoz GmbH, a Vienna, Austria-based company, has collaborated with Glassomer, a Freiburg, Germany-based producer of optical and technical components, to create a novel kind of glass that can be produced additively. Utilizing Lithoz's lithography-based ceramic additive manufacturing technology, the new material, "LithaGlass powered by Glassomer," produces highly precise and mechanically stable components.
LithaGlass, a slurry with a quartz glass base, is said to resemble ceramics more than common glasses like soda-lime glass. It has low thermal expansion and high thermal shock resistance, two desirable material qualities of high-performance fused silica glass.
Glassomer categorized Lithoz's lithography-based technology as the sole method able to achieve such a high degree of material refinement and additive manufacturing. The transparent high-purity glass solutions hold immense potential for a myriad of crucial applications, especially when it comes to high-stability technical and optical parts.

HPQ Silicon Inc., a renowned technology firm focused on green engineering processes to produce silica and silicon material, has provided an update to its shareholders with respect to the progress of its Fumed Silica Reactor Pilot Plant project, which is being constructed by its completely owned subsidiary, HPQ Silica Polvere Inc.
The Pilot Plant project, which is being developed in partnership with technology provider PyroGenesis Canada Inc. ("Pyrogenesis"), has reached its first major milestone with the completion of engineering tasks related to the design and fabrication of the Pilot Plant.
The company produces Pyrogenic Silica, also known as fumed silica, which finds use in a variety of commercial applications in the food and feed, personal care, pharmaceutical, adhesive, sealant, construction, automotive, and battery industries, among others.
